CASH Constitution

Article I-Name and Identification

The name of this organization shall be the College of Applied Science Honorary (CASH). This will be a campus-based group and student controlled group, with active membership limited to students of the University of Cincinnati.

Article II-Purpose

The purpose of this social organization is to promote healthy relationships between women and men on the OCAS campus as well as promoting networking between majors while upholding high academic standards.  Furthermore, the history of the Ohio Mechanics Institute, currently the College of Applied Science, will be preserved by this group.

Article III-Membership

Active members must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. New members will be tapped into the organization after their first quarter of achieving a 3.0 GPA.  The earliest a member may be tapped is the Winter Quarter of their first year at the University of Cincinnati.

Article IV-Officers

To be considered for an executive office, the candidates must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be of sophomore status. The duties of the officers are as follows:

    1. President: The president is responsible for setting the agenda for general meetings, planning events, and is also in charge of scholarship.
    2. Vice President: The vice president is responsible for aiding the president in all of her duties.
    3. Secretary: The secretary takes notes at Executive Board meetings as well as General meetings.  The secretary is also responsible for emailing these notes to all active members as well as emailing any updates.
    4. Treasurer: The treasurer is responsible for all funds.  The treasurer will work closely with the advisor as well as Tribunal to make sure that the books are correct.
    5. Webmaster: The webmaster is responsible for all electronic media.  Her main duty is to keep the UC/SALD website up to date.

Procedures for nominations, elections, and removal of officers:  For the first year, the founding members will hold the executive offices.  Summer Quarter elections will be held during the last meeting of the academic year.  These initial elections will be held online through surveymonkey.com, ensuring anonymity of votes.  Incoming officers must attend a transition meeting with outgoing officers.  In this transition meeting all officers present (outgoing and incoming) will evaluate the election process. 50% of the executive offices must be held by women.

Article V-Meetings

Meetings will be held once a month.  Active members are required to attend each monthly meeting unless previously excused by the Executive Board (excused absences include co-op, class, medical emergencies, etc). Meeting minutes will be posted online by the secretary for review.

Article VI-University Advisor

The advisor must be a current faculty member who is willing to provide time and input.  The advisor must also be able to attend one meeting a quarter, either the Executive Board or general meeting.

Article VII-Amendments

Amendments to the constitution may be made at the transition meeting of officers.  Any change general members want to make proposed to the Executive Officers for inclusion in the agenda for the transitional meeting.  These changes must then be presented to at the first general meeting of the year and a unanimous 2/3 majority vote by active members must be reached for an amendment to be passed.

Article VIII-Ratification

The College of Applied Science Honorary’s constitution was adopted on March 5, 2009.
